Since January 2011, I explored a children public library at Scotland Road, Penang. Instead of buying new books, we borrow books for our girl from the library every two weeks. Although the variety not as much as bookstore, but I feel that are sufficient!

I had a great experience during my first visit, the library staff at the counter are so friendly and helpful. They explained all the membership terms and conditions to me and even help to find some baby books for me.

My girl also likes to play at the toy library because of the variety of toys, such as costumes play, kitchen play, puzzles, wooden toys, basket ball, hand puppets, and many other educational toys. The best thing is there are many kids to play with her too!

Zoo Taiping and Night Safari

We brought our girl there when she was 2 years old, she enjoyed seeing all the animals. We spend almost 2 hours there.

Zoo Taiping Introduction:

Taiping Zoo is special in its own way. It is located in a lovely natural setting in Taiping Lake Gardens close to the foot of the Larut Hill (Maxwell Hill). The beautiful natural setting with streams, lakes and abundance of flora gives the zoo a unique advantage of being able to use nature to its best.

'Taman Mergastua Sultan Idris Shah' or the Taiping Zoo, which is located at the Lake Gardens in Taiping, is the only Zoo in the North of Peninsular Malaysia. Covering an area of 34 acres, the Taiping Zoo has embarked on an expansion programme which includes the building of new "Open Concept" animal enclosures. These enclosures which take into consideration the natural habitat of the respective animal, has been favourably received by the public-both for its inherent beauty and thoughtful design.

Taiping Zoo is currently home to more than 180 species of animals totalling - 1,300 individuals. These include Tigers, Lions, Elephants, Hippopotamus, Giraffes, Hornbills, Orang Utans and others. Furthermore, attempts to breed these animals have been very successful. This has seen the proliferation of such animals like the Malaysian Tiger, Lion, Siamang, Deer, Nilgai, Night Heron and many others.

Visitors are given the opportunity to view animals in their natural splendour and at the same time relax and enjoy themselves.

A rare opportunity is created for people to study about wildlife and get to appreciate nature.
ConservationThis important role cannot be over emphasized. Ex-situ conservation goes hand in hand wiith in-situ conservation.

There is always something new that we can learn about our wildlife. Both professionals and amateurs can study the animals at the zoo.

Technopreneur Workshop

“I’m A Technopreneur” Workshop on December 17th, 2011

Catering to school going children of ages 9 to 15 years old, the workshop’s main aim is to promote knowledge in the areas of creativity and entrepreneurship among them.

This is the first time that this exciting Technopreneur workshop is being held in the northern region after successful ones in KL and other states and we do hope to bring more to this region, in our CSR to guide the new generation of tomorrows.

There’d be an iPod Touch to be won, mp3, school bags, shoes besides other goodies provided with the Best Entrepreneur and Best Inventor bringing home trophies! All participants will also receive a certificate of workshop participation.

This workshop aims to promote creativity and enhance the innovative minds of the students, of which they’ll be able to utilize the knowledge and experience when dealing in their everyday tasks.

Overview:

Petrosains DinoTrek 2, the extended dinosaur exhibition has taken on a newfound quest to change everything you ever knew about dinosaurs. This exhibition was first opened to the public in the year 2002, in the centre in KLCC before venturing out in 2004.



Dinosaurs, having disappeared from Earth 65 million years ago, are only as real as discoveries go. Visitors will notice that each exhibit has a story to tell and with a total of 9 animatronic dinosaurs and other highly interactive exhibits, DinoTrek 2 allows families to learn together through co-operative exploration.



The aim of DinoTrek 2 is to remind us all to be open to the possibilities of what history may have been; to ignite in us the passion to continuously question what we know and what studies tell us.
